Pre-Purchase Questions

Can I install Snap in a motion-activated light fixture?

Snap should not be installed in a fixture with a motion detector unless the fixture has settings that allow for the Snap bulb to receive a constant flow of electricity. Snap is designed to always be on in order to stay connected to the cloud. If you’d like to use a fixture with an existing motion sensor, consider hiring an electrician to modify the circuit so that it receives power at all times.

Do I need an app to control Snap?

Yes, you'll need to download the Snap app from the iTunes App Store for iOS devices or from Google Play for Android devices.

What is the minimum Internet upload bandwidth required for Snap?

Snap requires 1 mbps upload bandwidth for 720p streaming and 2 mbps upload bandwidth for 1080p streaming. Keep in mind that other devices may take up some of your bandwidth too. The higher the upload bandwidth, the more reliable your Snap connection will be.

If you have any other devices that regularly upload data, the Snap may not receive enough upload bandwidth, which may negatively impact video quality.

Setup Questions

What's the best way to initially setup my Snap?

We strongly recommend for you to setup Snap within 15 feet of your router. Ideally, your mobile device, router, and Snap would be in the same room. Only after the initial pairing do we recommend for you to move the Snap to its final location.

I'm having issues getting my router to show up on the Wi-Fi network list when trying to pair my Snap. What's going on?

Sometimes you may have to scan for Wi-Fi networks more than once, especially in locations where there are multiple Wi-Fi networks.
