How Smart Products Can Help You Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions
Among the most popular New Year’s resolutions are losing weight, getting in shape, and eating healthier. And smart products can help you do just that.
Be Your Best You
An activity tracker like Fitbit can help you stay on track with your fitness goals, whether that includes losing weight, increasing your lean body mass, or simply getting more active and fitting more steps into a day. Besides tracking your activity and sleep, the Fitbit also measures achievements and milestones to keep you motivated and working consistently toward your goals.
A Wi-Fi smart scale like the Fitbit Aria 2 also helps you track progress and syncs up with your Fitbit activity tracker. The smart scale tracks your BMI, weight, body fat percentage, and lean mass so you can see those results materialize more and more over time.
Step It Up
Digital assistants are equipped with a variety of skills to help make your day easier, more efficient, and improve overall quality of life. Among those skills is the ability to schedule reminders—such as a daily workout.
Amazon Echo has a 7-Minute Workout skill you can enable. When connected to the 7-Minute Workout app, Alexa voices the instructions from the app and guides you through the steps. The app even has a visual guide so you can see how to do the exercise.
If you have the Google Home digital assistant, you can connect to the FitStar app and ask for the HIIT workout. While the FitStar app doesn’t have a visual guide, it does guide you through the workout and offers words of encouragement along the way.
For advice on healthy eating, just ask Alexa. You can say, “Alexa, open Teach Me Healthy Eating” to hear guidance from a selection of 100 healthy eating tips. Those with an Amazon Echo can also choose from a selection of cooking apps, such as Allrecipes, and stay on track with nutrition goals all year round.
If you have a digital assistant with a viewing screen, even better. Just queue up cooking or workout videos for visual instructions—and a little added motivation. For those with a Google Home digital assistant connected to a Chromecast, casting workout videos to the TV is as easy as telling Google to play a 10-minute cardio workout on your TV.
And it goes without saying that smart speakers are great for playing that motivational playlist that really gets you moving.
