Don’t Miss Any Action During “The Big Dance”
Brackets are locked in and we’re ready to see who will take home this year’s trophy as the best Division I men’s college basketball team in the country.

This year’s tournament will have games on four different channels, so having a great TV (and some extra time) is key to not missing any of the action. We’ve pulled together some of our favorite HDTVs and Ultra HDTVs to ensure amazing clarity and impressive picture.
If you haven’t heard of Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs, you’re missing out. These TVs go beyond regular HDTV (impressive!) to transform the picture to show intense detail and stunning quality. Boasting more than 8 million pixels with enhanced processing, you’ll enjoy a crisp, sharp picture no matter where you’re sitting in the room.
Sony offers a top of the line 4K Ultra HD Android TV in a 55-inch and a 65-inch model. With the Android TV feature, you’ve got a back-up plan to watch the games, should the unexpected happen and your cable go out. You can use your smartphone to project the game directly onto the screen without losing any clarity. You can also use the Android feature to access apps and other content related to the tournament.
There are a couple of mid-range options. First up is Philip’s 49-inch Razor Slim 4K Ultra HDTV. This TV features Pixel Plus Ultra HD technology that offers vivid sharpness during sporting events. The 120Hz perfect motion rate affords increased pixel response times for clear, vibrant images as the action heats up on the court. When the players are moving fast, the pixel response times track and keep up with the moves, so you don’t get blurry or fuzzy images.

Next up in the mid-range group are LG’s 49-inch & 55-inch 4K UHD Smart LED TVs. They offer four times the resolution of full HD televisions. UHD delivers exceptional clarity and detail, even when viewed up close. This means you can watch the game on a large screen in a smaller size room without losing picture quality. Color Prime Pro produces a wider range of colors for more accurate and lifelike pictures. And the TruMotion 120Hz technology allows you to see all the high-speed action of the game with virtually no motion blur. Also, the IPS panel uses in-plane switching to deliver rich color and strong contrast ratio that remain consistent no matter the viewing angle, so any seat in the house is the perfect seat!
Leading off the lower-range models is Haier’s 49-inch LED HDTV 1080p. This TV is a good entry point into the world of HDTVs if you have not already made that jump. It features a thin frame, measuring less than a half-inch, with a sharp, clear high-definition picture that translates to a great viewing experience. It also contains three HDMI inputs, one of which is MHL (Mobile High-Defination Link), so you can connect compatible devices like your smartphone, tablet or Roku Streaming Stick to view all everything you need to know about the teams and their star players. This TV also has two dedicated sound chambers for advanced sound quality with superior dampening, improved mid-range response, cleaner bass and richer overall sound. The ENERGY STAR rating assures it will save energy during its lifespan.
Finally, the Philips 32-inch LED Smart TV 720p is a great entry-point upgrade to a smart TV at a great price. You’ll enjoy watching the games on this TV because it offers enhanced motion sharpness and great connectivity options. You can connect wirelessly to access the internet to get all the highlights and bracket talk right from your TV and enjoy rich sound via DTS TruSurround.
For enhanced sound, add an LG Sound Bar to hear all the sounds from the game, down to the shoes squeaking across the floor! This sound bar has a wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth connectivity, so as the tournament progresses and fewer games are being played each day, you can switch over to your favorite music app to pump tunes throughout your living room.
Any of the TVs mentioned above are great additions, not just during major sporting events but all year round. We wish you well in your bracket challenge. May the best team win!
